Continental Carbon India Announces New Plant

According to an article in The Hindu, Continental Carbon India has publicly announced plans to build a new carbon black plant on the east coast of India. Concarb India’s managing director, Deepak Malik, indicated that the new plant will be built in the Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Region of the Special Economic Zone, located between Visakhapatnam and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. The cost of the new plant is expected to total Rs. 1,000 crore ($230 million). The investment will be made in two phases to achieve an ultimate capacity of 3 lakh tonnes per year (300,000 tonnes/year). Half of production from the plant will be exported. Concarb India currently operates a 65,000 tonne/year plant in Ghaziabad, India.
