Kumho Tire told to relocate polluting Nanjing tire factory

Filed under: Tires — Notch @ 9:00 am reports from China’s Economic Observer News that Kumho Tire has been notified by the Nanjing Environmental Protection Bureau to move its Gaoxin plant, located within the city, to a new site. Kumho is one of 173 companies to receive relocation instructions. The bureau identifies the Kumho facility as a major source of pollution. The plant has been ordered to stop production. A bureau representative said that Kumho Tires will set up a new plant outside of the city. Kumho representatives state that the manufacturer is complying  with government requests and is currently researching ways to cap its emissions.
